Janzen Johnston Rockwell

Billing Services

Since 1983, JJ&R Medical Data Systems, Inc. (MDS) has been providing comprehensive billing and collection services for physicians. MDS was developed by its parent organization, Janzen, Johnston & Rockwell, Inc., an emergency medical group, who in the early 1980’s began to develop expertise in billing and collection functions for two of its contract hospitals. Currently, MDS bills more than 60,000 new patient accounts each month through two divisional offices; and has expanded into providing billing and collections for hospital outpatient services, as well as for other physicians in private practice.

Developed as a turnkey operation, MDS provides all aspects of billing and collections, utilizing a “systems” approach, coupled with a value-added series of sophisticated management reports designed especially for physician practices. These reports have become the primary cornerstone of MDS’ success in regards to maintaining performance standards.

For each new contract, benchmark figures are established for daily, weekly and monthly production. This allows for continuous monitoring of current production trends in relationship to the benchmark standards; thereby enhancing MDS’ ability to pinpoint problems and initiate corrective measures immediately, if necessary. Additionally, weekly and monthly reports also allow each physician to monitor a variety of critical indicators such as average charge and receipt by financial class; average transactions per patient; average charge and receipt by transaction; patient distribution by acuity; procedure code utilization; patient origin by zip code and others.
